BEN WILSON RETURNS
TO RACE ACTION
Boston
racer Ben Wilson returns to race action on Sunday with a double header at
Mondello Park in rounds six and seven of the Metzeler Racetec National
Superstock championship.
Fully
recovered after his crash at Snetterton in the previous round Ben is all fired
up and raring to go, hoping the Irish track will be the scene of his first
podium finish of the year. Having finished fourth on more than one occasion Ben
is long overdue for a top three position.
Because
the Mallory Park round does not include the Superstock championship there are
two 16-lap races at Mondello, both awarded championship points and counting
towards the final standings.
Ben
will also be hoping for a dry, sunny weekend at Mondello as the racing last year
was abandoned because of heavy rain which made the circuit unrideable.
“I
am fully recovered from my collar bone injury and really looking forward to
getting back to racing,” said Ben. “ Luckily I didn’t miss a round of the
championship because, despite the injury I managed to score a few points at
Snetterton and we then have had a four week break which enabled my shoulder to
heal.
“I
just hope the weather is kinder to us this year as last time we were there it
was a washout. It’s a long way to go to come home without racing so fingers
crossed for a nice dry day!”
Free
practise is set for 1.25pm and 5.05pm on Friday followed by qualifying on
Saturday at 12.30pm and 4.30pm. Racing is on Sunday with the Superstock riders
being first and last on the day’s calendar of events at 11.45am and 4.35pm.
