BEN WILSON – DONINGTON PARK 05

Ben Wilson completed the two Bennett’s British Superbike races at Donington Park in the points.

Ben Wilson had a nightmare time in qualifying resulting in a crash in the dying minutes of the final session. “I was on a quick lap and following Leon Haslam around. But the front end just tucked under at the Esses and off I came.”

Starting from 19th on the grid Ben made his way through to 11th place before being reeled in by fellow Lincolnshire rider Steve Plater. Ben completed the 20 laps in 12th position to claim a further four championship points.

Race two went much the same way with Ben holding 12th place until the final lap when Dean Ellison finally managed to get past leaving him to finish 13th.

“I was battling with Danny Beaumont for a while and we went into Craner’s side by side where we high sided together and were lucky to hold it,” explained Ben. “We both lost places but I got the advantage and moved well ahead of Danny. By then two or three riders had made it past and I had to be content with 13th at the chequered flag.”
Team manager Richard Wilson added: “Both Scott and Ben brought some valuable points back from their races and Tristan did well to move through from 25th and work his way up to 18th place. The pace was quick out there despite the adverse weather conditions and all three riders did well to bring the bikes back unscathed in the second race as nearly a third of the field got caught out in the damp and crashed.”

The final round of the championship will be held at Brands Hatch on October 9.
