Mountain top
crash for Ben
It
was another difficult day at the office for the Vivaldi Racing Superbike
trio of Scott Smart, Ben Wilson and Tristan Palmer with Scott having to
withdraw from racing because of his collarbone injury and the other two
riders completing just one race each.
Ben
Wilson had problems to contend with. He qualified for a fourth row start
to Monday’s set of two races and got away to a good start in the opening
18-lap affair to settle into 10th position. But after just
three laps he discovered a fuel problem.
After
slowing and making some adjustments to his machine he was able to rectify
the problem but then found himself down in 19th place. He
clawed his way back through the field to complete his race in 14th
position to collect a further 2 championship points for the team.
Race
two saw Wilson again settle into 10th place but his progress
was short-lived as he lost the back end at the top of the mountain on lap
seven and crashed unhurt out of the race.
Team
Manager Richard Wilson added: “After a very eventful meeting at our home
circuit both Tristan and Ben managed to complete one race each with a
points finish so at least we managed to salvage something from the
weekend. Hopefully all three riders will be fit and raring to go at Oulton
Park in two weeks time.”
